The white dial with silver-toned markers and hands shows a reproduction of a 1963 drawing by Schulz, with Snoopy partially hiding behind a surfboard. What differentiates this Seiko 5 Sports x Peanuts Surfboard Snoopy SRPK25 from the rest of the collection is the design of the dial and bezel, as well as a new strap and a different caseback. It is powered by the tried-and-tested automatic calibre 4R36, a 3Hz movement with 41h power reserve and day-date function. Water-resistant to 100m, equipped with a Hardlex crystal and following the principles of the Seiko 5 series ( explained here), it is a functional compact sports watch that can do it all. The reference SRPK25 uses the same technical base, meaning a 38mm case in stainless steel, clearly inspired by the long-loved SKX007 dive watch, with a unidirectional bezel, crown at 4 o’clock and overall sporty specifications. The first of the two models in this Peanuts-inspired collection is based on the recently-launched Mid-Size Seiko 5 Sports SKX Series, which we extensively reviewed here. The Seiko 5 Sports x Peanuts Surfboard Snoopy SRPK25 One of the most popular and influential comic strips in history, it focuses on the life of young Charlie Brown and his loyal dog (a beagle), Snoopy – who is often considered even more popular and iconic than the main character Charlie Brown in some countries. The strip’s original run extended from 1950 to 2000, continuing in reruns afterwards. Peanuts started in 1950 as a newspaper comic strip written and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz, including Snoopy on the dial of these SRPK25 and SRPK27. These have been made in association with Peanuts and reference the famous comic strip written and illustrated by Charles M. Seiko now unveils a new pair of 5 Sports models to celebrate the 55th anniversary of this accessible collection. Nevertheless, this gave birth to some of the coolest Speedies around – but also some of the least accessible. Obviously… But the reason why you can find the cute beagle on the dial of the most legendary space watch has actually far more to do with NASA than the comic strip Peanuts by Charles M. When you associate Snoopy with watchmaking, you might immediately think about Omega and the Speedmaster.
